Interview with Dr. Hua Su, President, Infineon Technologies Greater China

What’s the difference of China’s business/regulatory environment in your industry today vs. 20 years ago?

China is one of the most important markets for Infineon globally, not only because of its vast size, but also because of the ideas and technology being created here in ways that were unimaginable 20 years ago, which would not be possible if it were not for the continuous improvements in the business and regulatory environments. Infineon witnessed and benefitted from these changes. As a technology leader in smart, secure and power-efficient semiconductor solutions, Infineon is committed to making people’s life easier, safer and greener.

What value has the European Chamber brought to you/your company/your industry?

Infineon was a founding member of the European Chamber’s Information Security Desk back in 2009, and has been an active contributor to the work of the Information and Communication Technology Working Group, while also being involved in a few other working groups that are relevant, such as Automotive and Standards and Conformity Assessment. Overall, we have found these platforms and the various policy analyses, consultations, meetings and events to be effective in helping us navigate China’s market landscape and in addressing many corporate, operational and business topics that bear an impact on us, as well as in providing a bridge between industry and the Chinese and European governments at various levels. This last point is particularly valuable to us, with one of our long-standing goals being to become a trusted partner in China as part of our localisation strategy.
