Interview with Erik Oortwijn, CEO, Balluff Sensors (Chengdu) Co Ltd

My first introduction to Chengdu and the European Chamber was during a family dinner with Pascal Hermandesse, then chair of the Southwest Chapter. It was May 2008 and the beginning of a long cooperative relationship between Balluff Sensors Chengdu and the European Chamber that I have highly appreciated ever since.

The European Chamber fulfills an important task in providing essential information to member companies and the international community of Chengdu. By information-sharing in seminars and during company visits, individual companies are becoming stronger by working individually. Also, when it’s needed, we can make our voice heard by the local government.

The European Chamber helps to create a business environment in which the member companies can become successful. My introductory dinner in 2008 made it clear that the Chengdu Chapter is not forgetting that family members also play their role in this environment for success.

Congratulations on your 20th birthday. I’m looking forward to many more years of fruitful cooperation.
